OVERVIEW

For this project, you are going to be designing and creating a website for a fictitious radio station that you will develop.  You are going to invent your own personal radio station and build a “website” that will show off the different features of the site.  There are many requirements along the way that you’ll need to meet, but as long as you use your time wisely in class and keep on track, you will have no problem finishing this project.  This project will receive the value of 2 test grades due to its multi-skilled requirements.  We are going to be using MICROSOFT POWERPOINT to develop the pages of your site.  There will also be a presentation portion of this assignment.   Here you will have the chance to mesmerize your fellow class peers as you market your final radio station through the use of your “web site”.

Over the past week or so, you have explored different local radio stations.  You listed the different sites in order from the best to worst.  You also wrote paragraphs comparing the sites against one another.  We then spent some time on a scavenger hunt as you focused your attention to different aspects of the web pages and pulled off information to fill out a worksheet.  By now you should have a pretty good grasp of what is found on a radio station website as well as what makes a site good or bad.  All of this prep work will help you out when you go to create your very own site.

The Requirements of your site will be the following:

·        You will need a homepage for your site

·        You will be creating a bio for your DJ personality

·        You will feature two featured artists/bands on your site

·        You will need to promote an event for a local charity

·        You will need to hold an event where you host multiple artists

·        You will have some type of promotional giveaway/contest

·        You will have a Top 20 song list

On the different pages of this Webquest, you will find a detailed description of what you will need to create in each of the sections for your website.  We will be spending many class days to incorporate all of these details.  If you are focused upon the tasks, you should easily finish the project in the time allotted.   However, you are welcome to make arrangements for after school access to the computer room if required.

There is also a checklist and a grading rubric to keep you on track as your design your website.  Make sure that you go down the checklist before your project is due so that you can maximize your total points for the assignment.   Good luck.

Click on each of the following buttons to see your requirements.  Good luck DJ in making the greatest radio website on the net as you kick off your new career!

This project is going to require a lot of work so make sure that you use your time WISELY IN CLASS.  You may have to do some of the work outside of class.  Put in a serious, focused effort, be creative and have fun with your site.  Have pride in what you create.

Remember that this is a major project (2 Test Grades).  If you have any questions or problems along the way, don’t hesitate to ask.

You will have 10 days in class to complete this assignment
